History of the building
The emblematic four-story listed building of the early 20th century is inextricably linked to the history of Patras.
During the German occupation, it is said to have functioned as a “secret school”: children would discreetly pass through the stone arch that connected the building to the metropolitan church of Evangelistria — an architectural element that remains visible to this day from the church’s courtyard.
The basement of the neoclassical building, carved into the stone, was used as a shelter and gathering place for clergy and soldiers of the time, transforming it into a place of faith and hope. It is not just stones and walls.
It is memory, history, human moments that give the building a unique soul.
This energy remains alive even today within its walls and is conveyed to those who choose to visit it, this is what makes Anfides stand out, making it unique.
The idea of rebirth
More than a century later, the building was “reborn” through the creation of the Anfides Boutique Hotel.
The reconstruction was carried out with respect for every detail, highlighting the neoclassical style and incorporating modern luxury.
